dirty dan Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 Does anyone have a parts breakdown picture for the P-15 horn button? My book doesn't show the P-15 set up. I think everything is there, but I can't tell what to hook my horn ground wire to. The previous owner had no wire in the steering shaft and an aftermarket button under the dash. On a side note I found a windshield washer, vacuum switch (dash button) in one of my buckets-o-treasures. If I keep looking I might just find a Jiffy Jet bottle in one of those! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 Maybe this will help. For Special Deluxe. Wire goes down thru steering column and out a hole at the bottom end. I ran a heavy wire thru first to pull horn wire. Wiring diagram. Quote
dirty dan Posted July 9, 2008 Author Report Posted July 9, 2008 Thanks Bob. Looks like I'm missing the contact that connects to the end of the wire. I bet I can rig something up for that. Quote
Young Ed Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 Dan if you can find an old fashioned rivet to solder onto the end that should replace it nicely. Quote

Young Ed Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 The kind you hit with a hammer are. At least around here they are kinda hard to find Quote

Young Ed Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 Oh I know where to find them locally. Just not available everywhere. Ya I have ordered a few times from mcmaster. In fact I still need to send you some of those 90 degree wiring terminals from my last order! Quote

Young Ed Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 See the thread about South Dakota if you are wondering what happened to them Quote
hkestes41 Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 My horn wire broke just below the terminal under the button. I just crimped on a ring terminal bent the ring portion over 90 degrees then reinstalled the button. Works great. Quote
randroid Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 Gents, Rivets like that never went out of fasion in boat building. Any marine supply house should have them by the pound, but it might be easier to crimp a spent case from a .22 short. -Randy Quote

dirty dan Posted July 10, 2008 Author Report Posted July 10, 2008 Why a spent case:rolleyes: Great idea Don! I can just "crimp" the wire end into the business end of a new hollow point! Quote
