jpellican Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 I have to mount new glass to track on doors a 1952 half ton. Glass shop cut glass from my old windows as pattern. Looking to find out what has work for mounting the glass to the track. Glass shop said that they use to use some type of stip made of cork and rubber but they do have carry it anymore. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Joe Quote
Niel Hoback Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 Plain old friction tape has always worked good for me. Quote
Byronb3b Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 Restoration Specialties has the rubber you need for setting the glass in the track, there are different thickneses available. Quote
Rich Gengo Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 Any glass shop who does auto glass should have the tape in stock. It's just a piece of rubber about an inch or so wide that wraps around the glass when you push it into the track. Spray some glass cleaner on it for lube when you install it. Not WD40 Quote
Merle Coggins Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 It's called Glass Setting Tape. It's a sticky type of rubber material. Most good auto glass shops will have it, or can get it through their suppliers. I got some from Restoration Specialties too. Merle Quote
jpellican Posted July 11, 2008 Author Report Posted July 11, 2008 Thanks for advice, I checked restoration specicalties catalog and found the glass setting tape. Just as a note one glass shop said they use urethane caulk to mount glass in track. Thanks Joe Quote
