Lou Earle Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 On my 34 with the 200 original rebuilt engine-basically a smaller version of the 218- It starts great hot or cold, and runs fine at all speeds. But about 5 minutes into a run hot or cold it will backfire one time - I believe thru the carb. Almost like it coughs and then runs fine again. Might do it several time a few minuets apart or just once in a 30 minute run. Any ideas- I am not going to use Vick's formula 44 or nyquil- that stuff contains booze- bad fro car and Me! I have not had this happen before so anyone else encountered this? Lou Quote
Don Coatney Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 Lou; You could have an intake valve hanging up occasionally. Quote
greg g Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 How is the movement in your breaker plate? could it be hanging up causing a timing situation. Quote
