Lou Earle Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 Could not find stainless steel mud guards for my station wagon. Got a pair off a 4 door then found a couple of spears on e bay for I think they said 53 plym- about 6 inches long never could figure out where they went on 54 or 53. Anyway I ground off the edges off both the mud guard on it's little spear and on the short tips. then ground off part of the short tip edge and slid it in the mud guard tip. took bolt and used it a anvil and folded over the flange on the mud flap over the ground off tip. Not perfect but it will work --I hope! Now to figure out how to attach the thing- need some way to attach bolts to the mud guard- it bolts to the body Lou Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 Lou.....here's how those are on a 54 Plym. There is another strip of trim that continues down the back fender. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 Bob...Lou has a Plaza..it comes with a rubber guard as stock...this rubber piece is very different from a stainless model that is common to the the Savoy or Belvedere..his welded extension allow him to use the stainless steel units..the matching fender spears..believe it or not..will not work..I was amazed at the bolt hole differences also.. PatS.... Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 I like it the way it is, maybe a pinstripe on the "bulges", but that wagon looks great as is. Quote
Normspeed Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 I agree, the wagons are utility vehicles and your car looks great without the bling. Here's how the 53 shields and spears look. Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 Lou, If you really have your heart set on having the mud guards call G & G Mopars, to see if they have them. 909 825 1231 Tony C Quote
