PatS.... Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Got all the ducks in a row and my nephews gooseneck again to get the Chrysler parts car home today. It was in a rural area just north of the city a short distance. Easy to load and tie down but we didn't check the exterior sun visor, and discovered very quickly that it was just held on by the closed doors jamming the tabs in place. Did a bit of extra damage but at least it didn't fly off into someone's car:eek: . A veritable treasure trove of parts this one is. No more non-running crap can follow me home 'cause there's no bloody room and no bloody money left!! Original engine, complete and with the correct engine number (C-45). Not sure why it's red, and not sure if it's free (no belt) M6 transmission. Complete dash with radio, clock, left side ash tray, good steering wheel, good padded dash, and the toe board cover escaped the surrounding rust and is in great shape. Now I have two good ones Note the ebrake lever is dash color and not red. Note the custom exposed aggregate floor treatment:p Quote
PatS.... Posted June 15, 2008 Author Report Posted June 15, 2008 Trunk is full of trim and other neat stuff: All 4 rare, expensive floppy window winders in perfect shape: And this interesting and well done heater treatment minus the heater part: Quote
mackster Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Question for you pat...Did the 49 chrysler came with a manual steering box or a power steering box??????? Quote
PatS.... Posted June 15, 2008 Author Report Posted June 15, 2008 This one, my main project car, the 50 DeSoto and my high school driver '49 Chrysler all came with Armstrong. I think the first PS was 1951/2, but I've never seen one up here. 1953 Chrysler with PS was fairly common up here. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Goodbye E-bay and hello tool box..just walk out back and grab it...you did good... Quote
PatS.... Posted June 15, 2008 Author Report Posted June 15, 2008 Goodbye E-bay and hello tool box..just walk out back and grab it...you did good... Yeah, Tim, I think I did. I hate to think of the prices, just the radio and steering wheel paid for the car, not to mention the Peckat visor...even with the bit of damage. 49 Chryslers are rare as hens teeth up here as well. They rusted out real good. I got it in the back yard behind the big fence/gate just in time for our new city bylaw that says they all have to run or be close to driveable. Someone needs to complain for them to come out so I'll cover it up and cross my fingers. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 I know of only one situation where they have tried to enforce the 'eyesore' clause around this county...it came to a shootout..no joke..he took down two officers...just a few miles from my place..not over 2 months ago..that is why I made yet another addition to my barn..my cars are in storage..I have but a couple not withing a building..I have only two neighbors that are in dierect eyesight of my property and both say I have no problem of them ever saying anything..as they themselves have a couple at their place. But, it turns out it is always someone not even bordering your property who makes the complaint..one more small addition yet to be put on the barn.. Quote
John Reddie Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Great parts car. I'm sure it will help you out. I had a '49 Windsor club coupe that was blue also with the outside visor. Mine had a maroon interior and steering wheel. It was a really great car. John R:) Quote
Suddensix Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 Hi Pat, Nice find. What is the width of the rim in the trunk? Is it a standard 49-50 Chrysler rim? Thinking if they're wider they would look good on my 49 Plymouth. Cheers Gary Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 Great find, Pat. Did all those goodies in the trunk come off this car....or did ya get a few spares? Quote
PatS.... Posted June 16, 2008 Author Report Posted June 16, 2008 Gary, I'll check the size tomorrow. It came off this car and the stock tire size is 8.25X15. I also will have the 5 from the 50 DeSoto, same size. Bob, I haven't seen anything from any other car yet. The seller has a 50 Plymouth with a similar trunkfull...looked like a complete heater system minus the cardboard duct in the trunk of that one among other things. Quote
