Don Coatney Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Greg called reporting he was stranded about 10 miles from the hotel as his car died while driving here. Chet had his 29 Plymouth here at the hotel and I had my Plymouth. Thinking that greg needed a tow we elected to return to Chets house in his 29 Plymouth and go rescue Greg in Chets Chevy Subdivision. So off we went. Did I mention all this happened in the middle of a rainstorm. Chet has no windshield wipers in his 29 Plymouth. Did I mention all this happened in the middle of a rainstorm. We made it to Chets house and headed out on a rescue mission. Finally located Greg and investigated the problem. Did I mention all this happened in the middle of a rainstorm. It appeared the problem was lack of fuel related as Greg suspected. We putzed with it and got it to run by some magic not discussable on this family forum. Did I mention all this happened in the middle of a rainstorm. I jumped in with Greg and we made it to the hotel. Further investigation showed that it once again appeared to be fuel related. Did I mention all this happened in the middle of a rainstorm. Rodney was due to arrive so Chet and Greg headed off to find a parts store that sold fuel filters while I waited on Rodney to arrive. Did I mention all this happened in the middle of a rainstorm. Rodney arrived and Chet and Greg returned with parts. Also chet lost his power steering on his Chevy Subdivision. He bought fluid and re-filled the power steering pump only to find a huge oil slick under his Chevy Subdivision. Did I mention all this happened in the middle of a rainstorm. We elected to drive Greg's car to Chets house to make better repairs. I drove Rodney over in my race car while Greg drove his car and Chet drove his Chevy Subdivision AKA Valdez. Did I mention all this happened in the middle of a rainstorm. Arrived at Chets and Greg went to work replacing his fuel filters and disassembling his carburetors. Did I mention all this happened in the middle of a rainstorm. Chet being the good host gave Rodney and I a (really small) cozy umbrella to share and kept one for his-self as we supervised Gregs repairs. Did I mention all this happened in the middle of a rainstorm. Greg finally completed repairs but by then we were all soaked to the bone. Once Greg completed repairs it quit raining. We all went out to eat and had a great time. Quote
