TodFitch Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 The fuel sending unit which has been giving me problems since last fall has finally been replaced and the replacement (a modified universal unit) seems like it is working properly. Thanks to Bob Amos and his write up in the region newsletter for giving me the clue that the full/empty resistance values can be swapped on that type of sender! However when re-installing the gas tank I noticed I have a leak on the right rear wheel. Looks to be brake fluid and the master cylinder was down an ounce or two. Crud. The touring season is on us and I am working too many hours to do it in the evenings. And I don't see cylinders for 1933 available any more which means rebuild kits and probably getting the current cylinders re-sleeved. Hope that does not take too long and cause me to miss too many tours. Quote
oldmopar Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 I would try to rebuild the leaking cylinder. It will not take long to hone and rebuild one cylinder and they all could be resleeved over the winter if necessary Ed Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 Tod, Did you try Kanter for a new cylinder? Its a bummer to have to do the work during the driving season. But.............better to find out the brakes are bad at home in the garage than when driving through the mountains in your area. Quote

At least I will have the excuse I need to fabricate a pressure bleeder. Quote
Normspeed Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 Tod, I had a new wheel cylinder start leaking in less than 2 years. I honed it and put in a good raybestos kit and it hasn't leaked since. When I had the rear drum off on Saturday for axle seal work, I pulled back the rubber boots and that cylinder didn't even have any seepage. Quote
