The new rear axle is under the car, it took me a total of 7 hours work and i must admit it was much easier than i thought it would be. It took some time to get all the parts i needed to make the swap, I purchased a custom driveshaft on ebay and used a rear axle from a 1972 sattelite.

The rear axle has 2.73 gears, in combination with the 265 Ci flathead it is a real highway cruiser now. it runs 70 Mph on 2500 Rpm and the engine has enough power to handle these gears.

And it is a way to beat the gas prices overhere ( 1,60 Euro / Liter )

The rear axle is a 8 3/4 and the width is 2 inches less than the original so no problem and the tranny is the original 3 speed.
