48 Dave PA Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 This 1935 pickup has a corrugated like metal bed on the floor,I would like to put the correct bed material back in .Can anyone tell me if the orginal bed was flat steel and how thick? Or where can I find this infomation? thanks Dave Quote
Young Ed Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Dave not sure what you mean by corrugated but the 37-38 mopar trucks had ribbed steel similar to a modern truck floor. I think the ribs were fewer and wider. Is that what yours looks like? It might be factory Quote
Young Ed Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Mopar switched to wood in 39. I believe one of my books states it was done to make it easier on livestock hoves. Quote
48 Dave PA Posted May 5, 2008 Author Report Posted May 5, 2008 thanks for reply--its hard to describe--corrugated is wavey--this is about 2 and 1/2 inch wide flat then up 1/2 inch then 2 and 1/2 inch wide then down 1/2 inch and so on. if that makes any sense. If that would be factory I think I could save it.There is rust on what looks like a seam up the middle. Quote
Young Ed Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 Yup Yup that sure sounds like what I have seen in the 37-38 trucks. Bet its factory. Quote
PatS.... Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 Mopar switched to wood in 39. I believe one of my books states it was done to make it easier on livestock hoves. My ex would like that!!! Quote
48 Dave PA Posted May 6, 2008 Author Report Posted May 6, 2008 I am surprised the ribbed floor is original but very happy. I will try to save it. thanks all. Quote
1937 Dodge Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 I found this site that sells replacement metal beds. I have written to these folks and the bed would fit your 1935. Some welding would be required. http://www.classicent.com/DODGE.php Quote
48 Dave PA Posted May 25, 2008 Author Report Posted May 25, 2008 thanks for the tip on the metal bed! Dave Quote
