47heaven Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Pretty quick here I'm going to be getting my P15 reupholstered, and since my door panels don't have the original fabric or vinyl strip along the bottom anymore, I need to know how high up the vinyl strip was originally from the bottom of the door panel. Also, need to know if all the P15s, no matter what the exterior color happened to be, had the same red/burgandy colored vinyl rim along the bottom of the door panels and bottom edge of the back seat. Just curious if that was the only color option, then. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 I think the ends of the front seat were always maroon, as were the bottoms of the door panels. Evidently that cord on the edge of the seat is maroon also. The strip on the panels was probably 6 to 8 inches wide. Rear seat......maroon along bottom. Quote

Those pictures help, but I do see the red/burgandy trim at the bottom of the back seat, just like in mine. Can't tell if these are pics of the original upholstery or not. I hoping they are. Anyway, I also noticed the red boarder on the kick panel too. Was that original? I've just never seen it before. It looks to me as if the red boarder ran along the floor starting from one kick panel, across the door panel and back seat panel and along the bottom of the back seat all the way to the kick panel on the other side. Norm is saying that the back seat had no red/burgandy boarder, but it shows up here and on one of the old sales brochures. I'm now realizing that the boarder on the door panel must be as high up as the same piece on the bottom of the seat. I mean, that would make sense, right? Also, on my car, there is no maroon around the sides of the front seats nor is there a sign that there ever was. It had the same fabric that is on the back side of the front seat backrests, as well as what was around the cord trim. Also, still looking to see if anyone has info on what the interior color options were on the P15s. Quote
47heaven Posted December 8, 2006 Author Report Posted December 8, 2006 DarinGo to the profile section and find David Maxwell's profile. Should have a link to his website there. I believe he has the interior options (colors) on his site. If not hit him with a Private Message. Yeah, I did check it and all it gave was fabric options. I'll PM him and see if he has a dealer's book that showed optional colored boarders, as well. Thanks! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 I don't think the kick panel had a maroon strip at the bottom....I think it was all a solid color. Quote
greg g Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 When my wife and I redid ours, we found that there isa metal cripmping strip which establishes that seam and its positon. Probably not 100 % necessary to the process but it was located by metal teeth punched through the backing board and bent over to retain it. Six inches is about right without actualling measuring. The fabric goes into some slots, then the slots are bent over to retain the pieces. Then the strip was mounted to the backer board, and then stretched to the top and bottom and fastened. I used staples at the top, makinsure they are put in where they are hidden by the garnish, and hot glue to fasten the vinyl to the back of the backer. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 As far as i know, there was one basic color choice---grey. With those pin stripes. Maroon trim. Quote
