It has been brought to our attention that you are incorrectly linking content from your Photobucket account around the Web. We would kindly request that you please begin making the appropriate changes to your links as quickly as possible as to avoid any future disruptions to your service. You are incorrectly linking to the Photobucket servers instead of the 'i' for some (or all) of your links off-site.

You will need to go in and manually change all of your links to reflect the 'i' instead of the Photobucket servers. Please see the examples below.

Incorrectly linked files look like this:

http://photobucket.com/albums/aa123/username/filename.jpg

An example of a correctly linked file should look like this (notice the 'i'):

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/aa123/username/filename.jpg

Note: You should copy the Direct Link code from your Photobucket album in order to resolve the issue.

On March 24th, 2008 at 12pm ET, Photobucket will begin disabling all incorrect links. Please begin correcting your links as quickly as possible as to avoid any disruptions to your service. Even if your links are disabled after the March 24th deadline, as soon as you fix them, your files will display as intended again. Please feel free to contact us at mislinking@photobucket.com if you have any questions or concerns. Your promptness and assistance with this matter is greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Your Photobucket Support Team

I got one as well and it is quite confusing because first of all I only have a few linked and they are all done using the direct link they say I'm not using.

I'm trying to figure out how this would be a scam but don't see how they would gain unless it's in the links in the email which I didn't and won't click on.

Something is fishy

OK, there is some confusion:

Well, darn, I deleted the follow-up message.....you all should have it as well.

Photobucket said people were getting the message above in error.....and to

disregard it.

See, that's why when you terminate someone, you have security escort them to the door!!!!

It would be interesting to know the REAL story on this PR disaster.

I did not get the message. If you read the entire thread (in the link posted above) the message was sent only to those who have incorrect links.

But I do not have any incorrect links. I only have a few and I checked and they are already done in the manner explained in the email.

One post suggested that PB may be referring to outsiders linking to photos.

I got the message then I received the second message about 3 hours later saying to "Please ignore Photobucket email regarding incorrect linking". This was after I started to change the settings. They received a not happy message from me so I'm not too happy with Photobucket at this time.

I am glad the message is in error. If I did link incorrectly it would have been years and years ago before the premade links appeared in the albums. Hope this is not a sign of times to come since they were taken over by yahoo
