Mick Blake Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 After starting, lots of black smoke, pulled pluges they were covered with black soot, cleaned and run again same thing. Could it be the carb? Quote
Reg Evans Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 That would be my guess. Were you using this carb before the overhaul? Quote
greg g Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 Assure your air clearner if your are running it is clear abd clean, assure your choke plate is fully opened, and assure your float is set at the proper level. Black smoke and sooted plugs indicate a rich condition. Also did you do an initial static timing to assure TDC before starting your engine. Retarded timing can cause a rich read if real late as the piston is firing on itsway down after peak compression. Quote
Mick Blake Posted December 3, 2006 Author Report Posted December 3, 2006 No, I used a carter E7T2, I tried another carb, seemed to run better, but fouled up again. Also the soot is getting into the engine oil. Quote
