PatS.... Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 I just sent the fluid coupling and clutch from the 1950 DeSoto parts car I have to a fellow in Eatonville Washington to replace the faulty unit in his 1939 Scoopmobile 3 wheeled Front End loader. Never heard of the Fluid Drive being used in anything but the Mopar cars and trucks. I know the engines are used in many applications but this was a first for me...learn something every day. From what I understand it's like this one: Quote
Manuel in Oz Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 Some of them here in Australia had Perkins diesels. Manuel in Oz Quote
Don Coatney Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 Interesting vehicle. I think Norm should install a snow plow on his P-15. Then he could make use of his driveway trips 5 months out of the year plowing snow. He could re-name his car "job rated" just like the trucks:D Quote

Norm's Coupe Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 Hey guys, how did I get in this one?? Anyway, believe me, if there was a way to hook up a plow to my P15 it would be there by now. I will say this though. I'm retiring my single stage snowblower. Going to buy new dual stage snowblower with 6 forward and 2 reverse speeds so I don't have to push anymore. Would buy it now but no one in town has any left. Just finished cleaning up 6" more snow about 30 minutes ago. Still supposed to get another 2 to 4". Get a break tomorrow, then more snow on Thursday. Quote
62rebelP23 Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 that machine looks like something from a '50's sci-fi movie! if it had more rounded edges and smooth tires it could be direct from one of the pulp mags of the day. my granddad told me about Yale forklifts using fluid drive when i was a kid. my Great-granddad had a '47 dodge coupe that he drove until about 1963-64, and it had fluid drive. it was the only "manual" trans my mother was comfortable driving!
