James_Douglas Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 My exhaust pipe was hitting the frame and so I took it in yesterday to have it fixed. While it was up on the rack, I took a good look at everything under the car. While I was looking around I found that the rear brake hose had two very big bubbles in it. These were very close to rupturing. This was a new brake hose in the car for about 48 months. I did not notice the bubbles when I replaced the brake lines forward of the hose last year for the front disk brake conversion. Either I missed it or the developed in the last 12 months. If it just happened in the last 12 months it could be that I have too large a rear line pressure in the system. However, with the original master cylinder and the same peddle ratio, I don’t see how the rear pressure could be anything other than stock. So, in the event that the thing just failed within 48 months of use, I would warn everyone to check their rubber brake lines every 12 months. Wonderful quality on these parts now days is it not. My fronts are racer steel braid hoses to the disks. I think I will get a steel braid for the rear as well. Best, James Quote
TodFitch Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Thanks for the "heads up". I'll make a point to inspect mine before my next drive in the old car. Quote

Ed Griffin Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 Would you be able to see those bubbles with the mesh covering them? Quote
