mackster Posted February 3, 2008 Report Posted February 3, 2008 Does your carb look like this????? Quote
Normspeed Posted February 3, 2008 Report Posted February 3, 2008 Mackster, that's quite an intake. What manufacturer is that? You could run a small sanding block along the edges of the fins to take the edges back to alloy and it would look even neater. Quote

It's an original Ellis and it's never been ran...Like you said it will look real good wit hthe corners cleaned up. Hopefully the new owner does it and paints it to match his engine...I just sold it, yup, need the money and selling a kidney is out of the question as I drink too much! BTW the single B and B carb in the picture is completly rebuild and it's going on the for sale list pretty quick..... Quote
claybill Posted February 3, 2008 Report Posted February 3, 2008 they all fit and all will work...all jetting is the same..only differences seem to be location of this or that plug or tube or choke connection. you can either use or plug up. however....the 40-41 carbs have a larger lip on the top to secure the aircleaner...the 46-7-8 etc have a smaller lip, making little chromies difficlut to secure. yes you can switch tops!! did it all. and all rebuild kits are same for all...so a rebuild kit might have parts you dont need. due to... !! bill Quote
grey beard Posted February 3, 2008 Report Posted February 3, 2008 KNick, I have a D6A2 that I picked up at Macungie last summer - paid $20 for it, and it looks decent. Probably needs a kit before you put it on. If you still need it, e-mail me off-forum and we'll make your day. Quote
greg g Posted February 3, 2008 Report Posted February 3, 2008 Word of caution, there were some carters for early cars commercial applications and some trucks that have a carb with the smaller bolt pattern on the base where it attaches to the manifold. Make sure your measurments are the same. A couple of those 90 degree adapters from Langdons will ease your choke cable linkage situation. Quote
