Guest firstsigns Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 I have a 1950 B-2-C with what is seemingly a car's engine- could anyone help me out to ID it? Year, size, horsepower? The # is D56-24597. I know they all probably look the same, but photos are always fun anyway... Thanks!! Quote
Reg Evans Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 That a 230 out of a 55 Dodge Coronet. Rated at 123 hp at 3600 rpm. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 It's a keeper, Dan. That beats the 96 HP 218 that came in it from the factory. Quote

What is the measurement of head thickness where a headbolt goes through: Looks like 2" on the money. Just measured it. Of course my tape measure was playing tricks on me with my wheelbase issues I was having yesterday as posted in the pilot-house forum.... No- it really is 2" though. Quote
Guest firstsigns Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 I just realized I gave the wrong engine # for my car... I misread it- I stated it was D56-24597 it's actually D56-24697 should that make a difference? Thanks, Dan Quote
Reg Evans Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 No difference Dan. Just be careful of the extra G forces upon acceleration Quote
Merle Coggins Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 The D56 is the give away as to what it came out of. the other number is the engine serial number. Quote
mackster Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 123HP and it just need some split manifolds and a shiny muffler bearing! sorry I just had t oget those lame jokes.... Quote
