Hey

I looked on the dpetc web-site for tork info. I have a 53 dodge b-4 w/ a 218 flat 6cyl. What is the trok in ft lbs for this engine? THeir manual has the listings for b-1 thru b-3. They range from 50 to 55 and 65 to 70 ft lbs. I want to do the job correctly. Does anyine know the correct answer for me please?

Brian did you find the directions for which order to go in and that you usually go in 2 stages and then recheck after a few heat cycles?

Brian,

As dodgepu1946 mentioned, it's very important to torque the bolts and nuts in the proper sequence, and do it in at least two steps (I usually use four steps, but that's because I'm anal). The sequence is generally very simple to figure out, though, because it's a simple spiral emanating from the center of the head. To demonstrate this, find a diagram of almost any engine torque sequence and connect the numbers with arcs and when you're done there will be a spiral connecting them. Neat, eh? It works on WPC engines in our era of interest, and I've done it successfully twice on my 218.

Good luck, but it ain't hard.
