HalfdollarMayflower Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260200785325&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=016 I'm speechless. Quote
Normspeed Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 Jeez, I guess the old economy is still holding up pretty good for at least some folks. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 The last 13 bids shown are by the same person. However, there must have been others in between. Pretty steep, even for a Merc wheel of that vintage. Maybe they're that hard to find. Quote
Captain Neon Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 If you ever see a DeLuxe/power steering wheel for a 1954 Ford on eBay, you'll probably have a coronary. I've only seen one and it was on a green Fordor Crestline. I'm gonna suppose that that Mercury steering wheel is a rare find. Quote
HalfdollarMayflower Posted January 14, 2008 Author Report Posted January 14, 2008 A NOS one sold a few days ago for half that price. Something fishy is afloat with this ebay stuff. Quote
mackster Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 just plain stupid. Guess some people have stupid money to be thrown around.... Quote
Don Coatney Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 The last 13 bids shown are by the same person. However, there musthave been others in between. I believe the bids were from the same person as he kept trying to exceed the proxy bid by the winner. That is exactly why I use a sniper service. Chances are the winner could have saved about three grand if he had placed his high bid in the last 3 seconds of the auction. The seller was the big winner in this auction. And he started the bidding at about ten bucks. Quote
PatS.... Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 The thing is, he still has to collect the cash which is a whole different story on eBay these days...try to get paid. I'd say watch for a relist soon. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 If the high bidder was a shill, the next-highest bidder will get a 'second-chance offer' from the seller to buy it at his highest bid. Isn't eBay wonderful? Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 My brother in law has that same steering wheel on his 38 Ford Coupe and it's in perfect condition. Was on the car when he bought it. Won't divulge what he paid for the coupe, but the asking price from the seller was only $9,000 at the time. Guess some people think easy come, easy go with their money when they pay that kind of money for a steering wheel. Quote
