BobT-47P15 Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 I like it, actually. If I had the play money, would try to get after it....as I've not seen a green one before. It's even here in the state, in Fulton, MO. On good ole e-pay, of course. To the ad: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=002&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3APIC&viewitem=&item=120206046493&rd=1 This old box of MoPar fuses just sold for $30. Quote
Robin (UK) Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 That car's been advertised on the HAMB for a couple of months. Originally listed at $19,500, now reduced to $12,500. Here's the link... www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=228164 Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 For that kind of money he should at least get it running. Otherwise it sounds like you could have a nice driver for not too much money. Wouldn't cost that much to fix up the interior and floors. Sounds like the guy may have bit off more than he wanted to chew, or he got it cheap and is trying to make a fast buck. Quote
Ed Griffin Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Fast buck sounds about right. He lost interest in it in one months time yet there are two other old vehicles sitting in the bay next to his shop. Needs new body mounts, floorpans, various time to replace the trunk lip and trunk end where they all seem to rust and it shows here after a good zoom in on the trunk while open, not the closeup of it closed. Did you look at the engine bay? Imagine if you crawled under you would find more than listed rusted areas. Guys looking for a 32 Ford coupe, that should tell you why he's asking too much. He's going to need it to get that 32. I'm no expert by far but you either really would have to have a thing for a Plymouth convertable or have more money than sense to pay for what he's asking at bottom bid, 10,500. If he dropped the price 9k that tells me he's looking to make a buck. Prob got it for a couple grand, maybe half of what he's asking for now. Nothing wrong with that but this seller needs to come back down to earth and be realistic with what he has. Bob, car was originally Beige according to the sellers description. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 When I see these big open top land yachts..flash back to Nancy Drew and Bess Marvin..now throw them in the deal (as descibed in the book not aged over the years) and you may have a deal..I take my convertible a little on the lighter side...lol Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Tim, you have a thing for Nancy Drew? Well I guess now I can come out and admit that when I was a kid I had a thing for Jane Jetson. The thing about going out with Nancy Drew is that you couldn't lie to her. She'd figure it out. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 9, 2008 Author Report Posted January 9, 2008 Yes, I did read the HAMB post provided by Robin. Guess I've not seen a tan one before, either. Would be fun to have a second ragtop, but don't have that much play money. When I got mine in 1973 it was less than $500 as I recall. It definitely needed more than the one pictured and I've worked with it over a lot of time. Still needs some things....but that gives me something to do. Mine was originally Sumac Red, but had been repainted a sort of "robin's egg blue." Maybe sometime I'll run onto some better pics of the car when first acquired, but this old faded polaroid one is the only thing I have for now. All the stainless was missing and the top had rotted at the seams, so the middle was gone. Still has it's original glass all around. The primer areas were repaired following some type accident before I found it. Original grey and maroon seats are under the seatcovers. Doors had been re-done in a dark red vinyl. So, it wasn't too good, but also not too bad when purchased. Was not running, but I had a rusty coupe with a good factory rebuilt engine.....so I took it to a mechanic and said to install the good engine/tranny and dump off the old one. Then junked the coupe. Had I known then what I know now, would have saved more things and/or had the original motor rebuilt. The car is now on it's third engine after the original. The rebuilt ended up with a cracked block. It's replacement from a worn out '50 Dodge kept it going, but developed weird noises. Now has a '57 Plym motor that was rebuilt by the previous owner. Runs OK. Guess I'll keep it. Quote
