1940 V series 1/2 ton transmission question

I just purchased a 1940 half ton, which will need a lot of work before being drivable. This is my first truck of this age. Do these transmissions require a double clutch to shift from gear to gear, or are they like newer vehicles where you do it just once? What years, if any, require double clutching?

General , If you have a 1940 Plymouth truck , it isn't a V series . It is a model PT 105 . And my parts list for PT105 doesn't show synchro parts for that tranny 3 speed in 1940  . My 1941 plymouth PT125 3 speed has synchros in 2nd & 3 rd .

Thanks. I just got the truck yesterday, so I’m still learning. I was told 3 speed, but after playing with it today, I’m pretty confident it’s a 4 speed. It’s a government order truck too, if that helps. It’s not running.
