TDC block plug.

I have (2) 230s. When checking the plug at the rear of the head, the hole seems blocked off. I thought the motor in the car possibly had something broken off under the plug but I checked the other motor and it's the same. Am I missing something? Did all of these motors have this hole opened to allow for finding the location of #6 piston?

They are filled with carbon and blocking the hole.

Me being the smart guy I am, I just took a nail and punched the carbon through the hole ......Do not be like me!

The carbon ball went into the cylinder then bounced around and then got stuck under the exhaust valve and then eventually got sucked out of the cylinder .... Do not be me.

Yes you are correct that hole is for you to find TDC, it will fill with carbon over the years.

My best advice is to use a drill and drill a small hole, then gradually step up the drill size ..... turn the carbon into powder so it gets sucked out of the cylinder.

Others will say to add oil or grease to the drill so the dust gets captured on the drill ....

I'm just saying it is a 2 second fix to punch the carbon out of the hole ...... Will be a lifetime trying to forget how dumb it was to punch it out.

Take your time and drill it out, you will be fine.
