Fuel gauge wiring

I'm getting ready to reinstall fuel gauge back into the dash I need to know which wires go to sending unit. there is a #1 and #2 on fuel gauge body, where does #1 go to sender main stud or sender body ground they were not hooked up the I got the truck or I would have tagged them thanks

If you have the correct 2 wire sender, it will be marked also with 1 and 2 stamped on the top of the sender. Sender is supposed to ground when screwed down to the tank, I recommend running a ground wire from 1 of those screws to ground.
