I have an oil leak on my freshly rebuilt engine. It appears to be the rear main seal. The engine is a 58 truck block with the two piece neoprene seal. I’ve heard of people installing the rope type seal with the engine in the car. Can that be done with the neoprene seal also or do I have to live with the leak?

Me too. Freshly rebuilt engine and same 2 pc rear seal leaked. I’’ve not gone back in there.  Not sure what I’d do different anyway.  I’m living with it. Kinda of a bummer but I can only blame the mechanic.
