I've got myself in a situation where I have to weld my patch panels on my 1938 Truck restoration. I have the truck in storage where there is no electricity. I need help in picking out a portable generator, but can't find enough trustworthy info to get the right wattage. Can anyone help me with the right power that I'll need to power my 15+ year old Lincoln SP-135T.  It's a 110v machine. Thanks in advance.

I would look at the input power requirements on the machine's data plate,  Then select a generator with about double that at least.   The initial arc will cause a power demand greater than that needed to run at a steady state.    Most of the 110v machines are designed to run on a 15A circuit,  So a 3600 watt generator should run it OK.

But, bigger wouldn't be bad and also allow you to run grinders or other motor driven tools too.
