Mertz Posted October 31, 2022 Report Posted October 31, 2022 When I took off the hub for the emergency brake the large nut at the rear of the transmission was quite loose. Once I got the cotter key out it turned right off. I just checked the torque specs and assuming I have the right nut it says 95 to 105 ft lbs. Is that correct? Is there a reason it would have been so loose? The shaft does move back and forth a little with the nut being tight. Plus I’m having trouble at times shifting to 3rd and 4th and can’t get into reverse. I’m assuming that I don’t have the top on correctly because it shifted fine before I took it apart. I didn’t rebuild any of the transmission except for installing a new front bearing. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 31, 2022 Report Posted October 31, 2022 it was loose because the prior maintenance action was not done correctly....and yes you have the right nut description and torque specs. Quote
