Go Fleiter Posted May 9, 2022 Report Posted May 9, 2022 Hallo all, the top motor is very weak now. No repacement US- wide could be found. One mechanic says that it´s magnetisation may have faded. -- Does this motor have or need magntisation at all? -- Don´t the field coils fill in for (static?) magnetism? On the other Hand: the generators too have field coils, afaik, but their polarisation is decribed in the Manual. --Is polarisation = magnetisation? Is anyone aware of a substitute motor, a 12 V variety would do. A left and right turning field winding isn´t either needed - I can reverse the polarity via a relay. Even the original connections to the worm gear aren´t neeeded, I can cast steel adapters myself. Critical ist just size and power. Our suppliers suggest installing a hydraulic system, but I WANT to stay with the mechanical setup. Thanks for help! Greetings from Düsseldorf. Go Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 9, 2022 Report Posted May 9, 2022 (edited) non permanent magnet...no degrading there....the field is electromagnetic....check for a variety of small items which could equate to one or more attributing factors....first off...worn brushes, second is bushing...third is armature (many need to dress and undercut the mica...dirty brush holders/wire contact here need to be tight and clean and any voltage drop at all connections from battery to motor via switch and plugs.
