So what am I missing? I have changed points in other vehicles hundreds of times and have never had a problem. With the distributor out, I go to remove these points and I can’t figure it out. I have read through the manual and still can’t figure it out. There seems to be two screws holding the points to the plate. One can be removed and the other appears to be an adjustment screw, that in my case, does not come out but just rotates. The screw that holds the condenser wire to the plate is not accessible without removing the whole plate. I have to be missing something very easy.

Thanks.

Should just be the mounting screw to the right and the terminal screw,  but it’s been so long I forget now too, definitely something you can do without removing the dist.

Remove the screw that is holding the points on the plate, the other is a cam srew to adjust the gap. The points might be stuck on the post from being installed so long, but it should lift off.

For the condenser you might find that the screw has an allen key head that will just have to be loosenedfor wire removal.  As both the power and the condenser leads are slotted.

Perfect, that is what I needed to hear. Just was not sure about how much to work on lifting it off. I have never seen a cam screw before so that was throwing me for a loop. Thanks for the help!

Got it taken care of, no problem. What was tripping me up was the cam screw. I didn’t realize the points just lifted away from the screw. It looked like the screw head was bigger than the slot, hence stopping it from lifting off. Obviously not the case.  With a little jostling it slipped right off. Thanks again for the tip.
