  1. Thanks! I kind of suspected that but was not sure. Mounted the driver side fender and running board this afternoon and it looks great. After 6 years, I am getting very close to putting it back on the road. Need to get the glass back in, wire up the running lights and some interior work and it should be done. Really appreciate all the help on the forum.
  2. Does anyone have a picture and dimensions of that attaches to the back of the rear fender? My ‘48B only had one when I disassembled and it was a home made deal that did not fit correctly. Thanks for the help.
  3. Thanks. I didn’t realize the old sockets were soldered in. I am going to give that a try.
  4. Still working on getting the fenders, doors and front grill aligned. Decided to take a break and work on some of the wiring. Does anyone have a novel way to repurpose the original front running light to accept a turn signal? In looking at the fixture that goes below the headlight, it is a one wire setup. While not an expert on wiring I think I need two if I want to incorporate a turn signal. Thanks for the help.

  6. Finally getting here fenders installed on my 48 B1B. I have, what I think are splash panels but cannot figure out how they attach to the fender. As the panels were very rusted when I disassembled, I do not have any great pics. Does anyone have a picture of how they attach. Thanks!
  7. Here are a couple of pics I pilfered from someone else. The finger points to the toe board inside the truck where the pin is attached. It really seems like a larger cotter pin. The eye is on the backside as you can see from the second pic. This is where the spring attaches.
  8. Sorry to being back an old thread, but a quick question on the key for the clutch pedal. Is it the typical square key or one of those elliptical/half moon types? Thanks
  9. Try Jeff Schlemmer at Advance Distributors. He has rebuilt a couple of distributors for me for British cars I have restored. I talked to him about doing the one in my Pilothouse, but have not sent it in yet. He is extremely knowledgeable and does an excellent job. jeff@advanceddistributors.com
  10. Still working on the truck bed, but starting to button up some of the wiring in the cab. I am struggling with getting the head light switch wired. The wiring diagram references different posts on the switch like “A”, “B”, “R” and “H” post. I have looked closely at my original switch, but cannot see any reference to the lettering scheme. Does anyone know the letter for the different posts? Thanks.
  11. Can anyone give me the length of the last cross member, the one by the tail gate, for a ‘48 B1B? I think this is the one that is shorter than the others. I am not sure why, but it is. Thanks.
  12. With the angle iron you are using, I am sure it will be strong enough. I ended up coming off the old rear mounting bracket with an extension. Mine is not on the road yet, so too soon to tell if it is strong enough. Yours looks to be stronger than the one I made.
  13. I will do some measuring tomorrow and get back to you.
  14. I would help you out Mike, but I don’t have the fenders on the bed yet.
  15. Making some progress on the bed. Repaired the rear stake pocket, not perfect but getting close. JBNeal, your log and pics on the partial bed removal has been very helpful. Am I correct there are supposed to be 4 cross members the the wood floor lays down on?
  16. Excellent, thanks. Per JBNeal above, it looks like some ‘48 did not have them. They do, however, make a lot of sense. They are pretty expensive to buy, but would seem to be pretty easy to fabricate.
  17. Interesting on the L brackets. Based on how mine tore apart, looks like that was a needed change.
  18. Starting to put my game plan together on restoring the bed. How does the panel below the tailgate attach to the stake pockets on either side. Mine is welded and bolted. The welding appears to have been done by a previous owner. My guess is bolting to the stake pockets should be sufficient. Thanks.
  19. Got the bed back from the media blaster. Amazing what you find when you strip off the paint. The bed is clearly salvageable, but will definitely take some work. Thanks for the Hornkey lead as they do stock replacement stake pockets. I think the rear ones are too far gone to salvage given the radius section that is missing. The front ones have some rust, but I think I can cut that out and weld in a patch.
