Exit point - horn wire- 57 Dodge D100 - column shift

Greetings,

I am in the midst of updating the truck's wiring using a 14 circuit Kwik Wire wiring kit. I am on the horn module now.

One wire from the new fuse block will go to the horn. A 2nd wire called "relay ground for horn," needs to be connected to the existing horn wire.

After pushing down on the horn button, and turning right, the button pops away enough for me to see what looks like a green wire going down the center (attached picture). I apologize for the poor quality.

I am assuming that is the wire I need to connect to. If I am correct, where does the wire exit at? Is it somewhere down at the bottom of the column where the steering box is? I cannot see too well down in this area since the alternator I swapped the generator out for partially obscures my vision. I can unbolt the alternator if need be.

Any info will be appreciated.

Eddie

That's how the older trucks do it. Sounds like yours is the same. There should be a few inches of wire beyond the box and then a connector.

If it’s like the B series, the wire exits the bottom of the box through a standpipe at the bottom end of the steering shaft.   There should be a loop on the bottom of the box.   If you have to replace the wire that runs up through the steering shaft, do it from the bottom.   The horn button on these provides the switched ground that closes the horn circuit.
