Reg Evans Posted November 19, 2006 Report Posted November 19, 2006 I've had 1 Study Hawk wheel cover hanging around here for a while and wondered if you need it. It's a beaut. Yours for the shipping cost. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted November 19, 2006 Author Report Posted November 19, 2006 Tim there is one sure way to know if this car was your uncles. This car has a automatic trans in the floor, now what makes this so interesting is in 1961 hawks did not have auto trans in the floor however this one does and from what all the stude folks have told me it must be something someone did , it looks bone stock in the floor very nice and neat. I am so excited about it as I already know what I will do with it. It has it's v8 and all however if it doesen't start for me I will remove the whole drive train and buy a 350/350 and be done with it. the stock motor 289 is so expense it would pay for the rebuild trans and installation. I want to be riding this in june of next year for sure! Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted November 19, 2006 Author Report Posted November 19, 2006 Hey Reg, Those things hanging around in our garages are motivating ornaments. I would not dare take:) yours(I want 17 inch wheels) I have 4 lark hub caps hanging in my old garage and would not give one away unless someone lost one in front of my place, that's the only way I would lend one. I would love to get my hands on a bullitnose chrome. Quote
greg g Posted November 19, 2006 Report Posted November 19, 2006 http://www.1956goldenhawk.com/diffhawk.htm mainly 56 info but vehicle model codes specs and production #'s for 56-64. My personal favorite is the 63 GT. There is a really beat up 62 that a fellow is trying to sell down the road a bit. It has some serious Central NY winter Cancer. I gave it a quick look see, has the runnning gear and all the trim, but so much bondo that there isn't much left from the rocker line down. Quote

Here is one for inspiration; It is a Factory 4 speed with a floor shift, so maybe the auto may have been floor shifted also. Does your car have bucket seats??? http://www.billstudepage.homestead.com/files/2006june.htm Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted November 21, 2006 Author Report Posted November 21, 2006 Greg, you are computer savy, I saw that picture while cruzing the internet. I think that pic was the one that convinced me to leave the 1954 starlight coupe and get the hawk. I have always wanted a hawk since I was a kid. It does have some cancer however what 45 year old car doesen't. I think you will see 17 inch wheels and some creature comforts seen in street rod cars as I have built my share of original cars, I have filled my quota. If you go on carnut.com and look at 1961 studebaker you will see some great 61's I am so exited my wife thinks I am having an affair, see doesen't know about the car yet!
