An interesting discovery about seat adjusters on P15s

My son in law Dale is working on restoring a 1961-1966 Ford f100 pickup for a fellow.  When he got to the

seat adjusters he thought they looked familiar.  So he dug out an adjuster for his 1949 P15 which he rebuilt

some time ago.   Sure enough they were made almost exactly alike.....with the exception being that the handle

to operate the adjuster is on the front end of the Ford item instead of the side.  The Ford item uses ball bearings

just as the Plymouth.  As you can see, the length is very similar.   So:  the Ford track may simply bolt in as is....or

you can probably relocate the adjusting lever to the side.     Or if you can find one, just use the Ford item for repair

parts.  Thought I would mention his discovery as many seat tracks need repair.  (Ford item on R)

I just picked up a set of 1939 Chrysler front seat adjusters. The 1939 Adjusters fit the 39 Chrylser, Dodge and Desoto becasue the body is the same body. I cannot validate that for the Plymouth.

The cost for the pair was $16.00 on ebay and the shipping cost was also $16 for a total cash outlay of $32.  When the package arrived I noticed that the shipping cost was $33. So it cost the seller mote to ship that what I paid for the entire two items.  So i am cleaning up the two risers and eveything is nice a clean and has been oiled and the unit is working and holding at each stop on the runner.  Now have to put it in my 39 Desoto to fix the non working left runner and thne have spares. I think the issue with might is that the tension spring is old and wornout. Might beable to fix or replace.

I think you can buy ball bearings to fit in those seat tracks at a hardware store or place where bearings are sold.  Would

need one original to determine the size.
