Dryerventwizard Posted September 10, 2020 Report Posted September 10, 2020 does anybody know if stock 1940 radiator will work for 360 mopar v8. Or new aluminium. Quote
greg g Posted September 10, 2020 Report Posted September 10, 2020 (edited) A long while ago a member reported cooling a 440 with a stock 47 p15 radiator. Guess it assumes a radiator in top condition. Edited September 10, 2020 by greg g Quote
Andydodge Posted September 10, 2020 Report Posted September 10, 2020 When I put the 318 Poly in my Oz 1940 Dodge I ran the original radiator for a while, it had been cleaned, boiled & rodded but as the 318 was mounted so low I couldn't run a stock fan so used an electric fan which worked sort of o/k but I decided to get a new radiator built after a couple of years which wasn't too bad.......so will the original work?........if its in good condition and you can use an original 360 fan or a good sized electric fan you should be o/k...........tho' as the 360 would have had a pressurised system and the stock radiator is only 5-7lbs you maye have to change the cap fitting to suit the higher pressure caps...........andyd Quote
Dryerventwizard Posted September 10, 2020 Author Report Posted September 10, 2020 Cool I didn't know if i should go allumnuim. I have 2 extra origenal radiators I can take to see if they are good or not. As I was going to run electric on either new or original any ways. Thank u. Quote
greg g Posted September 10, 2020 Report Posted September 10, 2020 Simple flow test for the stock radiator. Put an easily removable cap or stopper on the lower radiator hose. Stand the radiator up and fill it with water. Leave the cap off. Pull the cap stopper off. The volume of water escaping from the lower hose should support itself in a fountain 5 to 6 inches tall till the water level in the rad is about half full. If this happens, you can assume the unit is not clogged. Quote
Dryerventwizard Posted September 15, 2020 Author Report Posted September 15, 2020 Does anybody have a video on putting g on alternator and power sterring on 71 to 74 mopar 360. Been googleing and can't find a video on it. I took them off to paint them before installing the motor in 1940. With all the spacers I cant figure out how they go back. Quote
