grey beard Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 When I refinished my tailgate and rear bumper I discovered, while admiring my work, that the thing sat 1 1/2 inches low on the driver's side. Crawled underneath and measured axle height, spring leaves, etc. Looked for cracked leaves and bent frame. Found nothing. Last week I finally replaced several rear spring grease zerk fittings that would not take grease. Had to heat up one shackle bushing in order to get grease into it. Now, guess what else happened . .. . .. with lube in all the rear spring bushings, the truck now sits nearly level - only 1/4 inch variation - and I can live with that. Whoooda' thunkit! And here I was looking for some major problem when tight suspension from poor maintenance was the culprit. Go figure .. . . . . . Quote
Merle Coggins Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Good point Dave. I had a tight one on my truck too. It did move, but not as freely as it should. I was able to get greese into it and it's moving a little better now. I am hoping that once I get it all together and driving around the greese will work it's way in and free it up even more. Windward side would be east from your location as that is where the wind storms are located. Aft side is where flatulance escapes so that should be downwind of the windward side. Quote
