Normspeed
Did they mount in the same spot?
Young Ed
Shel I have a 50 plymouth mirror in my 48. It came with the car and really belongs to my dads 50 which be bought from the same guy. The parts must have gotten mixed up. I don't know who got my 48 mirror. The only other one in with the car is a guide day night one. Maybe thats what was in it. I do like the little bigger view with the 50 mirror too. I may keep it.
splat1955
Hey Shel.....I recently put in the same mirror as you just installed. Big difference.....I don't feel like I'm " Trippin " anymore when I look in it. It's not the Guide " Day/Night " mirror that I wanted, but then, it was $10 instead of $70 for the new Guide. Ed Griffin
So Guide made these mirrors and are actually for any vehicle that will take them or were they specific to mopar models? I ask because it looks like the one in my 50 Chevy 1/2 ton. I knew it wasn't original like a few other things but have been curious as to what it went to. Really a big difference in what you can see out with it compared to the small square one that came with late 40's early 50's makes and models. Young Ed
I think guide was a GM vender that was eventually bought out by GM. So I would imagine they were common dealer accesories for GM stuff that ended up in other brands along the way too. I may just try to clean up this guide mirror and see if its useable. It looks like dust has gotten inbetween the 2 pieces so you cant see well.
Ed Griffin
Good info, thanks Ed. Thought it may have come off a newer model truck since the motor is a 1957 283. Wherever it came from I like the shape and having more visiblity.
