Have the option of upgrading to Dana 110 4.88 with disc brakes . Splitter rear end really necessary? Dodgeb4ya Posted June 1, 2019 Report Share Posted June 1, 2019 (edited) Common ratio is 5.83-8.11 Eaton 2 speed axle. 13,500 lb rating. The first # ratio is stamped on the top of the differential next to the plug. Wire brush it well to see it. If you haul heavy loads the 2 speed is necessary for sure.unless a Cummins is installed. Your truck is as you have posted is a C-1-H...1954 2 ton with a single speed axle. if there were a "A" letter after the H that would define the truck as a factory installed 2 speed rear axle. IE...C-1-HA See the 1st picture of Vin data plate examples All this does not matter much other than what ratio Timken Double reduction axle ratio you have I have not seen exactly what axle you have but the ratio is stamped on the top flat sqaure pad as shown in the 2nd picture of a Timken 2 Speed axle. So apparently the truck didnt have factory two speed rear end then. I am struggling to exactly understand what I have on the truck . Learning more and more and becoming more work, really trying to figure out a build direction and forgo as many surprises as possible . Appreciate all the info .
