carman72 Posted June 15, 2018 Report Posted June 15, 2018 Well I am back with another what's it worth. I found a 52 Plymouth Cranbrook 2dr just wondering what you guy's think would be a fair offering for this car. The gentleman say's car runs but needs work. It's a 6cyl 3 speed manual. It looks to have some patching done on the driver side floor. Says it's got 57,000 original miles. Quote

Kevinb71 Posted June 15, 2018 Report Posted June 15, 2018 (edited) As kind of an opposite of the previous listing, i paid $2700 for this 53 Windsor with running 265. Paint is clear coat peeling badly. It's a four door though. Edited June 15, 2018 by Kevinb71 Quote
Mike36 Posted June 15, 2018 Report Posted June 15, 2018 The color of the engine suggests it is not original, which raises doubt about the mileage. A check of engine number would answer. Quote
mmcdowel Posted June 15, 2018 Report Posted June 15, 2018 I wonder what he means by "runs but needs work"? Is it running but knocking....or just maybe needs tune up and carburetor work? Missing on a couple of cylinders? I would also see if the rust underneath has penetrated any of the frame rails, inside of fender wells, etc. before making a determination. Quote

Good advice here, The car appears to be in fairly decent shape for its age but I too would check the actual running condition and underneath for rust damage. If that place on the driver's floor is the only rust through, I'd say that's not so bad. Interesting battery hold down bracket I might add.? John R. Quote
rallyace Posted June 16, 2018 Report Posted June 16, 2018 I would start cheap. Offer $1,500 and see what he says. He may be motivated. Are you mechanically inclined? A full engine rebuild can easily run you between $3,500 and $5,000 depending on how much of the work you are capable of doing. Can you do the floor repairs or will you have to pay someone to do it? All of this has to be weighed against the anticipated value when completed. Cars are money pits so the real question is the same one you ask yourself when you enter a casino, how much can I afford to lose and still have fun. Quote
carman72 Posted June 17, 2018 Author Report Posted June 17, 2018 Fixing up the mechanical stuff is no problem and my buddy up the street can weld the floors so no big deal there. Just do not want to by a money pit to begin with if it needs a little bit of work that's fine but I do not want to dump a ton of money in to it. I have 2 restored cars now. I just want something I can drive around with and have some fun with it not have to worry about someone scratching it or touching it. Not sure I going to get this one guy seemed to get offended when I started ask questions about what model it was and has not gotten back to me. So the search goes on there are more out there just gotta find the right one. Quote
carman72 Posted June 20, 2018 Author Report Posted June 20, 2018 Well I picked up a 55 Plymouth savoy. Overall it's a nice car needs a few things. It's has a rebuilt motor new clutch and presser plate rebuilt starter motor new tires and brakes master cylinder and lines. 1 Quote
