Knock on wood I run a regular NAPA 6 volt battery in my Meadowbrook.  Keep a trickle charger on it for the hot months when I don't drive it as much and I'm going on 8 years with it working fine.  Of course when I get home tonight she probably won't turn over.  I don't plug and unplug it.....it supposedly turns itself on when needed and seems to be.  Keep them on my mower, RV and tractor too in the winter.  No problems there either.  All of those batteries going on at least 6 years if not more.

I got 10 years out of my last fleet farm 6v in my 46 truck. Never touched it except to unhook it in the winter.
