Should I put the new fender welt on before paint or wait until after I really don't want to do anything to mess up the paint once it is done. ThanksGary

I put the  fender welt in after the paint. To me it looks clean and neat that way. If the  paint has cured well and you avoid sharp objects it should slide in with no problems.

after the paint has cured. Use the plastic vinyl style fender welting. This acts as an anti squeek material and also when you wax the fender if you get polish on the vinyl it will not stain the welting. i used this onmy 39 desoto.

If you are going to buff the paint put the welt in after buffing.  A buffer will destroy the welting.

Ok it is after the paint has cured,  I never thought about the buffing wheel as always thanks for the advice.  Gary
