garyp Posted November 28, 2017 Report Posted November 28, 2017 Should I put the new fender welt on before paint or wait until after I really don't want to do anything to mess up the paint once it is done. ThanksGary Quote
Ranger Posted November 29, 2017 Report Posted November 29, 2017 I put the fender welt in after the paint. To me it looks clean and neat that way. If the paint has cured well and you avoid sharp objects it should slide in with no problems. Quote
desoto1939 Posted November 29, 2017 Report Posted November 29, 2017 after the paint has cured. Use the plastic vinyl style fender welting. This acts as an anti squeek material and also when you wax the fender if you get polish on the vinyl it will not stain the welting. i used this onmy 39 desoto. Rich Hartung Quote
casper50 Posted November 29, 2017 Report Posted November 29, 2017 If you are going to buff the paint put the welt in after buffing. A buffer will destroy the welting. Quote
garyp Posted December 1, 2017 Author Report Posted December 1, 2017 Ok it is after the paint has cured, I never thought about the buffing wheel as always thanks for the advice. Gary Quote
