morson82 Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Hi all, am getting to the point where I am putting the freeze plugs back in my 218. Was wondering which is recommended, better than the other....steel or brass? Should I also use a sealent when installing them? Glenn Quote
62rebelP23 Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 i always try to get brass if possible, and use permatex to seal them. i haven't done my plymouth's, but all my v8's get brass plugs. i don't know if brass are available for the flathead 6's. Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I have used both brass and steel with an equal success/fail rate. Use of sealent is a must. Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 My brass freeze plugs were set in with JB Weld two years ago . No problems so far . Quote
David Maxwell Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I thought you were talking about two spherical objects lol! I was going to reply STEEL for sure lol. Quote
