BobT-47P15 Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 1942 model biz coupe. Real blind quarters. A little different treatment of bumper guards. Link to the ad with more pics: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Plymouth-RAT-ROD-1942-PLYMOUTH-BUSINESS-COUPE-HOT-RAT-ROD-CUSTOM_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6387QQihZ007QQitemZ170045906770QQrdZ1 The blue car on the bottom appears to be a two seater. Look at the difference in the trunk lids and the slant of the door edges. I suppose sedan doors would fit with the roof behind them modified. And the rear window looks straight along the bottom with an arched top...wierd. Quote
greg g Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 There is more wierd stuff here than meets the eye. The rear window is not a coupe window, nor is it a Biz Coupe window,, they were flat glass about 8 inches high, and the top and bottom edges are straight. Also the coupes had a forward slanting "C" pillar. This looks like it might have started life as a more door, and not based on either of the coupe body styles. But based on those observations I would say this is not a business coupe. Shown is a local 42 Biz Coupe for comparison. Quote
Olddaddy Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 There is something distinctly abortive about this car.....a good example of a great deal of time and effort to make something less desirable than it was when you started. Quote
thedahmer Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 I bet the FBI is looking for that car== I bet Jimmy Hoffa is in the Trunk-- sealed away-- seems like quite a bit of effort- poor results-- but for $5500 I would be looking for something else-- Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 11, 2006 Author Report Posted November 11, 2006 I revised the original post and added a picture. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 The rear window of that "coupe" is shaped like a Ford window not a Mopar. Looking at the shape of the deck lid makes me think its possible that whole rear half is Ford. The door window frame is shaped like a sedan door, not any kind of coupe. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 11, 2006 Author Report Posted November 11, 2006 That sure does look like some Ford grafted on. Quote
Guest Nelsons Ply Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 This a side shot of my car.Has been no changes to the body Quote
KINGSWAY52 Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Well, started idea did looks okay. BUT, when playing at computer the roof seems better chopped, with angled doorslants. Also at pic2 perhaps side window in pillar should stay? Build as you like, its yours, but when putting pics at ideas in forums, you could get a lot of opinions, as here. Have fun, stay cool with your car....................................leaded Quote
bob westphal Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 It's quite obvious the car in the photo has a '40s Ford coupe rear end grafted to it! Ech! Oh well to each his own! Quote
