gspineda Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 For anyone who will be in the So CAl area on August 18th; there will be a car show in up town Whittier. There is still time to enter your car. Just contact the Up Town Whittier Association for entry forms or let me know and I will send you one. gp Quote
Normspeed Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Sounds like a nice show. Here's a link to the flyer: http://www.whittieruptown.org/images/carshowflier.pdf I try not to pay to display my old bomb. $25 pre registration is too much fer me. Ironically, one of the only shows I paid to enter last year, the sponsoring club stiffed the participants on the dash plaques and goodie bags. Big club too. Quote
Guest Sheldon Bates Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Why do we pay to show our car??? If some one wants to put on a show why shouldn't they pay?? At least free beer!! Sheldon Rusty P15 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 years ago I came to the conclusion that to pay entry for a car show...waste a day baby sitting it...the fact that you cannot slap the snot out of kids with sticky fingers..(lot of adults need slapped also) is a waste of time and money. For sanity and such...drive the daily there..see other cars..free to walk about..come home when you want...trophies collect dust..got more of them than I need and care not to get another...I have take best of show in a field of 200 so I have nothing more to accomplish. I will do a cruise every once in awhile where there is no set schedule..pull in and out as you wish...easier that way... Quote
47heaven Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 I with you on that, guys! I only go to the free shows that don't tend to be too hokey. The SoCal show at the NHRA museum was free and I even got a pic of my car posted on their website...and it didn't even cost a cent. http://public.fotki.com/wackydave/cruise_nights/cruise-nights-2007/07-11-07-nhra-twili/ Quote
Normspeed Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 gp, I might try to make that show just as a spectator. Lotta neat cars running around that area. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 I like to go to car shows and enter my cars. I don't care about winning trophies but I do like the look on the faces of the spectators as they look at the cars. Sorry, I won't be able to make the show in Whittier, but the show schedule is full at this time. We will be at the car show in Big Bear Lake, Ca on the 11th and the show in Wrightwood, Ca on the 18th of Aug. Oh what a way to start my retirement, 9 more days. Dennis:D Quote
