me52dph Posted February 3, 2017 Report Posted February 3, 2017 When I bought my 52 someone had already installed the front windshield with new rubber. The interior molding has never fit correctly. Looking at it I am now thingking the rubber winshield gasket is installed backwards. Is this possible? Could someone take a closeup picture of the exterior winshield of their truck? Quote
MBF Posted February 3, 2017 Report Posted February 3, 2017 I don't have a closeup photo, but the outside lip should cover the pinchweld surrounding the windshields. If you've lot a large lip outside, and a small one inside it's been installed inside out. Mike Quote
me52dph Posted February 3, 2017 Author Report Posted February 3, 2017 Yep thats what I thought. Do you think I'll be able to save the rubber when I change it around? Quote

Well, I guess anything is possible, it would be difficult. They must have put it in from the outside instead of from the inside. I'd love to see a closeup picture of how it fits. Here is mine shortly after instsalling it. Edited February 3, 2017 by austinsailor Quote
me52dph Posted February 3, 2017 Author Report Posted February 3, 2017 Mine doesn't look like that. I'll get a picture later today. Quote
me52dph Posted February 3, 2017 Author Report Posted February 3, 2017 Here is a couple pictures of the outside. Quote
austinsailor Posted February 3, 2017 Report Posted February 3, 2017 Looks backwards to me. I can get a picture of the inside of mine this afternoon. I'm guessing it'll look a whole lot like your outside. Quote
me52dph Posted February 3, 2017 Author Report Posted February 3, 2017 Now just sitting here thinking. I'm unable to get my wipers to function correctly when I put them down on the glass. Work fine until they hit the glass. To me it looks like the glass is sticking outside much further than it should being that the rubber is backwards. Wonder if this too is my wiper problem. Make sense? Quote
48Dodger Posted February 16, 2017 Report Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) I've seen more and more of these put in backwards.....can't image how it happens. I guess checking the instructions is needed....."Instructions?! ...ppff...just another mans opinion!" 48D steel rubber how to remove an old windshield.pdf Edited February 16, 2017 by 48dodger Quote
me52dph Posted March 3, 2017 Author Report Posted March 3, 2017 All fixed. Actually easier than I expected. My 2 sons helped and the use of large glass suction cups helped a lot. Looks MUCH better. 1 Quote
