HELLO FOLKS ,,, DOES anyone have factory turn signals on their car ? i have them on my 1950 dodge wayfarer conv. but can`t get them to work ? they do nothing ,,,any ideas ? i have 5 old original flashers tried them all got nothing i guess they all could be junk ,,the swtch in the column seems to move nicely & doesn`t seem to be broken or move around ? all the bulbs are good i do know if the lever is up or down it will cut off that side of the brake light . hopefully someone has had this problem before me & can solve the mystery,, thanx CHANCE

you have to be sure the bulbs are making good contact and that they're 6v not 12v. there may be an issue with the relay as well if it's 12v, but i don't know. mine have to be cleaned every so often, but after that they work fine. btw mine is 52 plymouth.

You may need to take the cover off the box and clean the switch contacts. they may have some oxidation on them, but my first sugestion it to check the grounds at all the lamps, make sure they are good and solid. These signal curcuits are very sensitive to resistance anda bad ground will really screw things up. You can bench test the flashers by making a circuit board that mirrors the signal lamp circuit. Power to flasher, flasher to a wire that you can connect two bulbs to, and then back to ground, Power it up wit your battery charger and see if your flashers are working.

which box are you talking about ?? my turn signals are made in the steering colunn from the factory .. & the flasher is on the firewall under the hood ,,,, all bulbs are 6 volt & work when the park lights are switched on ....

Chance, they had to get all that wiring and levers and stuff in there, so the case fot the handle must come apart somhow. My after market on has three screws on the reverse holding it together. Also just because the parking lamps light doesn't mean the elements for the signals are still good or properly connected or grounded. Besides the signal circuit is very resistance fussy, it doesn't take much in the way of corrosion either at the lamp to pigtail connection of the lamb to base to ground connections to screw up the system. So I guess I would check them all and bench test both elements of the bulbs, then look at the switch contacts if all the bulbs, sockets and grounds are good to go.

i`ve checked the bulbs so next i`ll check out the sockets and all the connections,, to check out the switch i`ll have to remove the steering wheel cause thats where it is ,, but that will be the last thing i`ll checkout.. hopefully u r rite & it`s the flasher or bad connection ,, again thanx
