Hey all, replacing K-pins and have a couple questions about the bearings.

- Do the bearings need to be packed with grease like you would for a wheel bearing? I haven't seen any reference to greasing these though it would make sense.

- Does it matter wich side of the bearing faces toward the spindle when installed? When I took out the old ones, they were so worn that they didn't spin and I couldn't see they were anything other than a solid piece so I don't know which side was facing toward the spindle.

Thanks

I install mine with the open side of the bearing down.  That way, water will not lay in the bearing and it will get grease when the lower bushing is greased.  It is a very poor setup, at best.

Don, the caveat I use with that pic is that its a generic pic, "typical of all models" and its the same pic used in a few of the workshop manuals, that being said it appears to show the bearing with the opening on the bottom, that's a good enough reason for me  as stated.......lol.......andyd
