Jipjob Posted November 4, 2016 Report Posted November 4, 2016 Could some here explain what does the rubbe check valve do in the M/C (42 Dodge)? Thanks Quote
Jipjob Posted November 4, 2016 Author Report Posted November 4, 2016 Just goggle my question and it there to hold residual pressure in the brake system! Not much just to keep the brake pedal up. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted November 4, 2016 Report Posted November 4, 2016 You need residual pressure in the system to help keep the wheel cylinder cups expanded so they don't leak. If the cups don't seal tight against the bore, air will get past them into the cylinder. It used to be that when you parked a car for a long time, you would disconnect the battery and put a stick between the brake pedal and the front seat to keep pressure in the cylinders. Quote
sser2 Posted November 4, 2016 Report Posted November 4, 2016 The purpose of the check valve in MC is to prevent brake fluid gravity seepage during brake bleeding. Otherwise, it does not participate in any way in brake operation.
