POPTOP Posted September 7, 2016 Report Posted September 7, 2016 I have a 1949 b1 someone used a newer rear end so its wider I was given a rear end from a 1949 b1 it seams good except they drilled out the threads on the hub and put lug nuts on I was also given a rear end from a 1949 3/4 ton this rear end has lug nuts also I asume they are factory might be truer than the one that was drilled out I was wondering if I could swap the axles from the 3/4 ton and put them on the housing of the 1/2 ton and be able to use the 10 drums and other parts any sogestions Quote
48Dodger Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 The B1 is a drum/hub with the threads......they are a tapered fit to the axle....if the gears, etc, are good, why not find new drums? 48D Quote
MBF Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 I think the bolt pattern is different between the 1/2 and 3/4 tons. 1 Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 Yes the 3/4 ton models had different wheels. 5 x 5" x 15" and 5 1/2" wide rims. Also the lug size is 9/16" for which there are no ready made replacements. When I did my axle swap and added disc brakes I ended up with new Dorman 5/8" lugs all around as several of my original 9/16" lugs were broken. Jeff Quote
