Don Jordan Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 (edited) first I just wanted to comment on the new format: I'm an old guy not up to speed on computers and I gotta tell you change just throws me off. after years of figuring out the old system I've got to start all over again. Is there a tutorial? question: the cap on my master cylinder is made of rubber. the wings to turn it have worn down as have the threads. in order for me to drive the car I had to take the metal cap off my 48. I can't seem to find anyone that sells just the cap for the master cylinder. any suggestions? they are shutting down 'pick a part' lots in my area. I hope 2 questions are okay. I took my radio in (I think it's an 802). the guy said he needed my speaker - which I don't have. I asked if I could just buy a speaker from Best Buy he said it wouldn't work and went into a long explanation which I didn't understand. I've not seen any on e bay. does anyone have a lead on speakers? my car is almost complete except for some cosmetic stuff. thank you - hope I'll be able to find the answer Edited September 4, 2016 by Don Jordan Quote
desoto1939 Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 Don is the MC a replacement or the original MC. That is the first question. If it is an orginal for what year is your car. I can look in my Wagner and also EIS catalog to get the cap that will fit the MC if it is an original. Did you try McMaster. If you know what years the MC fits then any good auto store should beable to get you a cap. I would inquire with another Radio rebuilder to see if a modern speaker would work that is my best answer to you. Rich Hartung Desoto1939!aol.com Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 What ever master cylinder cap you find it must be vented. The threads are the same on both the cap and the end assuming you have the factory master cylinder. You can use a end cap for the top lid but make sure you modify it for a vent. Pictured below is what the factory P-15 master cylinder looks like. Quote
