Bingster Posted September 14, 2016 Author Report Posted September 14, 2016 When you fill the radiator before starting up for the first time, doesn't the motor start with no water in the block till the pump begins? Quote

Yes that is correct. No water will get into the block until you connect the radiator hoses from the radiator to the engine. 1 Quote
austinsailor Posted September 14, 2016 Report Posted September 14, 2016 Don, you're so bad! Sure, you are correct, but..... if everything is hooked up water will fill most everything. Slowly as it passed the closed thermostat, but except for a few are voids it'll fill it all. Pump will circulate it and hopefully push out any remaining air, like in the heater, and a few air bubbles in the head. But for the most part it'll fill without the pump. Quote
Bingster Posted September 15, 2016 Author Report Posted September 15, 2016 I don't recall saying that the radiator hoses weren't hooked up. Quote
