Dieganjames Posted July 30, 2016 Report Posted July 30, 2016 Hey fellas. I need your help !!. I have a 41 Plymouth coupe and I attempting to do a t5 Trans swap. I have two engines and two different bell housings. The engine that is currently in the 41 has a bellhousing that has the lower mounting ears that mount to a cross member. My other engine came equipped with all the components (t5 adapter, clutch ) for the t5 swap but a completely different bellhousing. My question : can I just swap bellhousings from one engine to the other? Pictures 1: primer/grey bellhousing is the one that is NOT in the car Picture 2 : old dirty bellhousing is the one that is currently in the 41 Picture 3: p11 engine with the bellhousing from pic 1 and t5 1 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 30, 2016 Report Posted July 30, 2016 the original set up is a reverse T three point system....if you install the bell that does not have the provision for the left and right rear mounts that were on the ears. then you will have some serious rocking in that drive train. You will need to adapt the T5 to the bell with the mount ears for the stock set up..or revamp the entire mounting system altogether. Quote

According to the manufacturer of the adapter the only relevant difference for the T5 swap is the distance between the face of the transmission and the flywheel. Regarding the crossmember mounts, I would think you would need the one that matches your cars crossmember. Quote
countrytravler Posted March 6, 2017 Report Posted March 6, 2017 Any updates? The top housing is a 37 38 Mopar 6 cyl? Quote
