James_Douglas Posted July 19, 2016 Author Report Posted July 19, 2016 The car looks nice especially the rare factory cowl mirrors. They really suck though. You have to break the glass to get the head off to chrome it ! The pax side is useless as you cannot see it. Nice to look at though! James. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 Yes they are for looks only and hard to get on and off. I need a right side. Tough to find. Quote
James_Douglas Posted July 20, 2016 Author Report Posted July 20, 2016 I had a set of originals on my 1947 Desoto. I took them off and sold them to my buddy with a 1946 Chrysler T&C that wanted them. In the case of the 1947, there is a trim part that goes in place of the mirrors. On the '49, as far as I know, there is no trim that goes in place of the mirrors. I could have welded the holes shut, but, I did not think of it at the time. Wish I had... I have been looking for a set as a back up for 4 years. No luck. James. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted July 21, 2016 Report Posted July 21, 2016 (edited) There are 1950 Chrysler convertible/hardtop NewYorker pot metal chrome trim pieces that will cover the two mirror stud holes for the 1949 Chrysler Desoto cowl mirrors. Edited July 21, 2016 by Dodgeb4ya Quote
